Juana Reanda Tacaxoy

Looms and Threads

First spokeswoman;
Distribution, production, and consulting assistant

Weaving teacher in the project, artistic, a skilled embroiderer and bead worker, bilingual in Spanish and Tzutujil, with one year of formal education. She was born in 1951, lives in the shelters, after having had her home swept away in the mudslide, and she herself pulled from the mud. She is active in her church activities. Juana is a single mother of two grown children and the head of her household. She has a life long physical disability, which is undoubtedly the root of her strong, calm character.
